Parada Gazdowska is a true celebration of the highlanders and their traditions. It is a series of events including parade drives of horse-drawn teams judged by a jury and timed runs in the disciplines of kumoterki, skiring and ski-skiring.
Kumoterki is a race of a two-person highlander pair in small sleds used by the kumot and the kumoszka – the kumot drives, and the kumoszka, by balancing her body, ensures they do not fly off the track. Skiring is a sport in which a horse pulls a skier who follows behind on skis. Another discipline is ski-skiring, which differs from skiring in that the horse is ridden by a rider, while the skier's task is to stay on their skis while following behind.
During the parade drives, horses are judged (selection, grooming, training/handling, condition, breed), the harness, the sleds or kumoterki (style, type, workmanship) and the driver (clothing, posture, driving technique). All participants are required to compete only in highlander attire.
