September is the best time to explore Zakopane on foot: fewer people on Krupówki, pleasant temperatures, and guides who don’t have to shout over crowds. The city offers six free walks — four Saturdays and two Sundays.
The Free City Tour is led by two teams. Saturdays: Klimka Bachledy Tatras Guide Circle PTTK shares stories of highlanders, mountain people, courage, and passion. Sundays: walks trace notable figures via addresses of people who shaped Zakopane.
Both tours start at the same place — in front of the Tatras Station at Krupówki 12 — but at different times.
Participation is free, but places are limited and prior registration is required. Sign-ups are accepted by the Tourist Information Center — by email at info@promocja.zakopane.pl, by phone at 18 20 12 211 and 18 20 12 004, or in person on site.
